Fast Ball - Slow Game - Baseball

I went to a Marlin's game earlier today and I confirmed why I have not been able to get into that game.  To begin with, the score remained the very same from when we got into the stadium to when we left.  How can you get into a game that takes forever to score a point?  Yes, with soccer scoring can take long too - sometimes no one scores at all - it can end in nil all, but at least there is much more action going on.

Don't get me wrong.  I had a great time at the game, but thats because the atmosphere was great - cool breeze blowing, bright lights, upbeat people, good junk food, beer and good conversation with my girlfriend.  We talked about everything but the game.  Occasionally our attention turned to the game, when there were two or three men on the bases and there was a lot of cheering.  And, of course we cheered along pretending as if we knew what was going on.

Some years ago when the Marlins won the "World Series,"  I watched the games and cheered the Florida team  as they went on to victory.  However, baseball has not been a sport that I follow that much.  Basketball is more of an interesting sport.  After the Heats won the championship some time ago, I try not to get too caught up in the game, because it can become emotionally draining.  I still watch the game on and off - checking the scores intermittently, like I did during the NBA finals between the Lakers and the Celtics.

In baseball, the fast flying ball can be a little dangerous too.   During the game that I attended, one of the referees had to take some time out to tend to a bruise, after being hit somewhere (not sure where) by the ball.  Lately, Baseball officials have been looking into the kinds of wood that the bat is made of, because they are being broken by the fast balls and injuring spectators and game officials.

I guess its easier to get into the game when the ball is being hit and the players are running the bases.  With this particular game, there were a lot of fowl balls, when the batters did manage to hit the ball.  By the way the score - Phillies 3 and Marlins 2.
